  1. if I want to edit the code in vba for category in the add expense form , how to do it? Have you protected the sheet from editing by users? Additional item in the category is not reflected in it if it is added in the row in the worksheet .The budget workbook is really fascinating.

  2. I've got to testing ok button and when I click OK button I have a compile error: End if without block if.
I'm not great on excel . I can't seem to find what I done wrong.

  3. Thank you for this great tutorial. This is the first time i have done something like this. I never knew we can use excel like this too. Thank you very much!

  4. Great content! Trying to create/replicate/update this budget for my own needs. Tried to make the expenses into a organizable table with "Format as Table" for the headers "Date, category, amount". Problem is whenever I add an expense, it no longer updates until I click on date and "sort oldest to newest". All of the expenses are there, in chronological order regardless of the order of each entry, which I prefer. How do I get these transactions to update automatically?

  5. Great tutorial. Learning new things at every video. Could you advise how to add one more layer in form tool for expense type… ie. Category sub menu or dropdown to detail items. In excel we can link this in data validation formula. But the vba seems to take in only fixed name range only..

  6. Sir, how can i make the monthly budget work according to month and year. because working through this sheet recently I found that the monthly budget is not be the same if i change it up coming month. If I my budget in January ৳1000 and if my budget in February is ৳1500 then If I change it in February than the January Budget will also change to February budget. So how to make it work under year and monthwise.

  7. Very helpful video. Now that User Form and Macros are complete, how do I "reset" the "Expenses" sheet so I can delete test data. I want to return to the first line and start using the workbook. When I clear/delete test data, it breaks the Macros and "Budget" sheet stops collecting expenses entered via User Form. When I add an expense, it also goes to the next line down that previously contained data, before I cleared the sheet; not to the first line. I hope this make sense.

  8. Really wonderful sir… Learnt a lot…
    Made one myself following yours….
We can add two more lines to the Sub ShowHideYearSelection():
    If Sheet1.Shapes("YearsGrp").Visible = True Then
    Sheet1.Shapes("YearsGrp").Visible = msoFalse
    Sheet1.Shapes("scrollYearButton").Rotation = 225
    Else
    Sheet1.Shapes("YearsGrp").Visible = msoCTrue

    Sheet1.Shapes("scrollYearButton").Rotation = 45
    End If

'scrollYearButton is the name of the control to which the macro is being assigned.

The above modification gives a more interesting dynamic look to the excel sheet in which the scroll down buttons change shape according to visibility of the list of years

NB: I used a Chevron shape instead of Half Frame. To get the same effect for Chevron, the angles of rotation will be 90 and 270 degrees respectively for corresponding 225 and 45 degrees of Half Frame.
